Ext. Audio w/ (audio) Timecode integration
Panasonic S5IIX + DSW XLR1 + Tascam X8 for 32bit/192kHz. Using Davinci Resolve Studio w/ .mov 4-channel audio (one is audio-TC) and inserting additional external audio track(s) with the better audio. I'm trying to figure a workaround, but it seems that without prior alinging of video+ext. audio it can't happen. Tried to open all together, but can't slide the ext. audio track to aling it manually with the video and the 4-channel audio tracks. Any suggestions to do it?

Hi there, I sent you an email with all the required files to replicate it. Thanks
You should be able to slide the external audio tracks by clicking the Segments button to switch to Clips mode, and then dragging them to get them lined up by the waveforms.
xarisathos546: Thanks for the screenshots, that's very helpful. How big is 4053b_merged.wav, or the sample files that had the same issue? Would you be able to send me one of those perhaps? support@getrecut.com is a good email. It looks like I'd be able to reproduce it and figure out where it's breaking down. I tried grabbing a random 32bit 192khz file off the internet but it's working ok, so I'm guessing it's something about those particular recordings, or maybe the one I tried wasn't long enough.
When there aren't cuts appearing, I try setting all the settings to 0 (including Threshold - uncheck Auto) and then increase them one at a time, starting with Threshold. Everything underneath Threshold acts as a filter to shrink or remove the silent parts, so with all of them set to 0, and a good threshold value, that should find the maximum amount of silence.
One thing that's lacking right now is the ability to set different thresholds for each file, so you kinda have to find a good balance. (planned: https://feedback.getrecut.com/feature-requests/p/adjust-volume-threshold-settings-for-separate-audio-tracks)
If it's finding silence (showing red areas) but the export doesn't contain any cuts, try ignoring (with the 🚫 button) any tracks that shouldn't contribute, like the timecode track for sure. Those will still get exported but their audible/silent parts won't be considered. Recut merges the silence in vertical slices, and when the "cut where ANY/ALL tracks are silent" button is set to ALL, then it's only going to cut where every track is silent at the same time (excluding the ignored tracks).
Dave Ceddia: Thanks for the tip, it worked but with a lot of fiddling to find blindly the matching frames. Here is what problems I found in my production tests I do with my equipment to make it work with Recut, I start actual video/audio productions shortly and test the entire workflow:
1) It seems that there is a bug with the first audio track, the ones below the video track are 24bit/96Khz and have normal waveforms (which start forming gradually once you load the 4-channel video track + the ext. 32bit one), but the top one doesn't (and doesn't create them slowly as the 4x 24bit ones below video), which resulted in an exported timeline with the 32bit audio, but WITHOUT any cuts made, tried so change the settings on the right to make it work and start creating the cuts, but nothing worked.
2) The actual .xml, resulted in a new timeline with the video and the 32bit audio track just aligned and nothing more (made from the Recut .xml timeline witwithinhing Resolve). The same could be done manually in Resolve.
3)Also, it would be nice if there was a snapping feature of of the tracks + the ability to move a track up/down and remove ememptytpy tracks. If it's too much work, then a snap boton h sides of top/down tracks would do the trick. My workaround was to zoom fully the timeline in Recut and match the 2x 32bit tracks (before doing the merged one in the screenshot) and align them.
In my case, the file 4053b_merged_3.wav was created in Audacity by cutting-pasting the second part at the end of the first one, to order to have it working in Recut.

Tried to reproduce the bug with different test files from the same equipment and the 2x 32bit audio tracks (placed automatically on the top, selected during load alone with the 4-channel video track) and it has the same effect (no waveform after a certain point), so the case that Audacity produced a problematic exported/merged file in the first screenshot (no re-encoding, just merged both files) can be dismissed entirely, something happens within Recut 3.7.11
I hope that everything makes sense Dave. If you need anything more, let me know please, since I am running out of time and I heavily rely on Recut for the actual video production in the upcoming days.
Thank you in advance for your time and dedication to the app!
